These days....

We returned from our vacation to find a new-to-us book on the front porch. A friendly gesture from a neighbor no-doubt. A donation from one of the families where their child(ren) had grown up beyond picture books. Much appreciated...especially by Alder since it is full of photos of vehicles of all sorts and shapes. He sits and listens intently as we point out each - the telephone line repair truck, the cement mixer truck, the aerial ladder truck, the automobile transporter truck, the big rig, etc...

We are trying to keep Alder's obsession with wheeled objects low key. "Alder, are you sure you want to read that book AGAIN? How about this one instead?" He replies simply "Cah" and points. I was washing our breakfast dishes the other morning and noticed how long Alder had been silent in the other room...I looked around the corner expecting him to have left and gone off to find a toilet, but instead found him sitting and pointing with utter concentration to the book.

I have to think that this phase will too pass, just like his love for mallard and barn swallow.

Some antics of late include putting things on his head while we ask aloud "where is Alder?"

He is also signing for 'book', eating pb 'n' j, and attempting the use of silverware...especially with his morning cereal...oh yeah and he signed for 'cereal' this morning too!

LOL, Trav. Appreciate the inside joke. Having read that, now it will echo in my head for several minutes.
