Down by the Rivah

We went down to the James River a couple of weekends ago and never posted anything about how much fun we had. We have been meaning to go to this spot for awhile now and just never found the motivation or time until then. We are very glad we did. Besides Tsuga rolling in dead fish, we had a great time. Alder loved the water. We think he got a sense of the current and enjoyed it being shallow enough to walk around on the uneven rocky ground and see fish darting about. The James is much rockier and has more rapids downtown. the spot we went to, about 20 miles west of down town is calm, shallow and wide. This is Jason and Alder from afar and then zoomed in.

Better than even being in the water was watching the many people putting their boats in - we were at a boat landing. He marveled at each one - whether it was a canoe, kayak, or motor boat entering with a truck and trailer. One guy let Alder sit in his kayak and this guy asked Alder to help him by holding his boat while he got his fishing stuff ready. Turns out he moved to Richmond from Louisiana after Katrina and loves it here. He was excited to hear we frequent Grand Isle.
Here are some more pics of our wonderful morning. The weather was awesome!

I love this pic! Amazing how their expressions are exactly alike.

The beginnings of a prosperous modeling career....

Dog tired after all that fun...

And as for Heath...we don't think he will be able to sleep in the bassinet much longer...
6 weeks old and ~15 lbs.

Thanks to Craigslist yet again, this is now how we roll...and I am thankful to be picking up the pace a bit on my walks!
