Though no pics of the best parts, here is where we set up camp in our new family sized tent. The very high and wet grass was not the best for toddler and infant play, but the tent was super fun for both.
Something was not right with Alder all weekend - he was pretty whiny and sad. I have a sore throat now and wonder if that was the case for him last weekend. Here is Mr. serious on a walk around the property.
Regardless, I think he enjoyed it! After all, he got to play in a fancy tractor and roast marshmallows over a campfire....
Her is a pic Jason took of the property back in April when we visited..the headwaters of the Potomac and my field tech's farm house/field house.
...Heath has been changing and developing at what seems like warp speed lately. He took his first steps the other day when I encouraged him to do so and I think he will be full on walking by his birthday later this month. He has been going potty at his daycare - a few catches a week! This is very exciting considering that the ladies that work there have never heard of EC (elimination communication) before Heath and think it is pretty amazing considering there are numerous 2-3 year-olds there that have never/rarely done such a thing. Heath has not pooped in a diaper at home in a long time now. He undoubtedly lets us know when its coming so we can put him on the potty. Very neat, but we have to recall that Alder went through just such a phase too... until he learned to walk. Then we couldn't keep him on the potty long enough to go. Heath has also really gotten into pointing and will sometimes point to Alder or mommy or daddy when asked. Othewise, he will point at random objects and make noises, as if naming the object. Here is a pic of his two newest skills!
He outgrew the Baby Bjorn Little potty long ago...
He continues to be super happy/content. He is pretty rough and tumble though and obviously does not know his own strength. He grabs, pinches, pulls, and swats at everything....but then when you say ouch, he smiles and buries his face in you. I am thinking that he will bypass Alder in size by 18 mos b/c Alder continues to get long and lean and Heath continues to grow up and out. Look out!
These two were from earlier today while dad was selling compost tea at the farmer's market. It is hot out there!
